We’ve officially launched Happy Tartan! 🎉
The aim was to get it out for Valentine’s Day… but life got a bit busy and things weren’t quite ready. So we pivoted and made a push to launch in time for International Tartan Day during Tartan Week — and I’m so glad we did.
Sometimes you just have to press go and get things moving, even if it’s not all polished yet. That’s what this stage has been about: momentum, joy, and starting where we are.
We caught a rare bit of sunshine and grabbed the chance to do a little test photoshoot right outside the studio. The wall out there makes a brilliant backdrop — bright, textured, and local. Gracie, age 8, stepped into the tartan and instantly became the face of the brand, full of personality and confidence. She modelled like an absolute pro, and the shots we captured really brought the vibe of Happy Tartan to life.
From there, things took a creative leap. The brand evolved into a cartoon-style world — cheerful, character-led, and totally full of fun. The plan now includes animation and a whole crew of “Tartan People” that we’ll meet over time. It’s a happy little universe in the making.
And it wouldn’t be Happy Tartan without the Clogs on Tour! Our tartan clogs have been making joyful appearances all over — dipping toes in the sea, walking beaches, striding through Aberdeen, and keeping up with the quick steps of Highland dancers. These Happy Feet really do get around.
The website is nearly ready at this stage, with channels set up across Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The foundations are there, and now we’re working on marketing materials and our launch strategy — starting with more photoshoots as soon as the sun decides to shine again.
It’s early days, but it’s moving. And most importantly, it feels happy. That’s the goal — to build something full of colour, kindness, and community. Here's to the beginning of the journey for Happy Tartan. Thanks for being here with us!
