Sometimes a name arrives before you even know what it means — and that’s how Happy Tartan began.
For me, it was never just about fabric or pattern. It was about feeling — that sense of warmth, colour, and belonging that tartan carries. “Happy Tartan” came from wanting to share a brighter side of Scotland — one that celebrates creativity, laughter, and kindness in every stitch.
Each tartan tells its own story, and together they create a world where people feel connected, proud, and joyful. That’s what “Happy Tartan” means to me — happiness woven in, from start to finish.
When I was developing the brand, designs and tartan, I reached a point where I needed a new name—something that captured both the spirit of what I was doing and where it was going. I didn’t want to overcomplicate things. It had to be simple, clear, and instantly memorable.
I like the word Happy. It’s light, positive, and something everyone understands. And of course, Tartan—that’s at the heart of what I was creating. So together, Happy Tartan just felt right. It was a name that did exactly what it said on the tin.
It’s cheerful, it’s Scottish, and it stands out. It gave me a brand that felt like mine—bright, bold, and full of potential. The name sets the tone for everything that follows: a fun, friendly, uplifting celebration of colour and culture, wrapped in tradition and joy.
Sometimes the best names are the ones that come naturally. This one did.
