The Happy Tartan Girls at Loch Ness — Meeting Nessie
After exploring the Highlands, the Happy Tartan Girls made their way to one of Scotland’s most mysterious and magical places — Loch Ness. Long, deep, and wrapped in legend, it was the perfect place for a tartan adventure filled with curiosity, courage, and maybe even a monster sighting…
Arrival at the Loch
The mist curled gently above the water as the girls arrived at the loch’s edge. The air felt still — as if the whole world was holding its breath.
Bonnie shaded her eyes and leaned forward eagerly.
“Right — where’s Nessie then?” she grinned, waving her flag.
Skye was already by the water’s edge, tossing pebbles and watching the ripples spread across the dark surface.
“Race you to the castle ruins!” she called, pointing toward the ancient stones of Urquhart Castle standing proudly above the loch.
Blaire opened her map thoughtfully.
“Here’s the plan — we keep our eyes peeled, take notes, and don’t fall in!”
The others giggled — though they did keep a safe distance from the edge.
Searching for the Legend
They wandered along the shoreline, listening to the soft lap of the water. Blane paused, quietly watching the loch with her usual calm sense of wonder.
“If Nessie’s real,” she said softly, “I hope she’s kind.”
Alba nodded.
“Nessie’s a symbol of mystery — a reminder that magic still lives in the world,” she said wisely.
“This one’s definitely got a story.”
Iona sat on a rock, sketchbook open, drawing the loch — her pencil tracing gentle waves, the castle towers, and the sweeping Highland hills beyond.
A Surprise in the Water
Just then…
something stirred.
A soft ripple.
A swirl.
A shadow beneath the surface.
The girls froze — eyes wide — hearts fluttering like butterflies.
Slowly… gently… a long, elegant neck rose from the loch, followed by the friendliest smile they had ever seen.
Nessie!
But not big and fearsome —
more like a gentle guardian of the deep.
Bonnie gasped.
“Let’s dazzle ‘em — it’s really you!”
Nessie blinked kindly and gave the softest splash — as though saying hello. Skye waved wildly. Blane simply smiled — the calmest of them all — as if she’d known all along.
Iona, of course, started sketching immediately.
Blaire whispered:
“Right… new plan — protect the secret.”
And they all agreed.
Because some magic belongs quietly to the loch.
A Highland Picnic by the Shore
After Nessie slipped peacefully back beneath the water, the girls settled onto a tartan blanket for a Highland picnic — warm soup, bannocks, cheese, and biscuits.
They clinked juice cups together.
“To Nessie,” they said.
“And to believing in magic.”
The loch glimmered — calm and deep — as if smiling back.
