Happy Tartan® is a Scottish story-led fashion and creative brand created by multimedia artist Nicola Jones on the Isle of Bute.

Blending illustration, books, animation and clothing, Happy Tartan builds imaginative worlds where each tartan dress belongs to a character with her own story and personality. The brand celebrates creativity, confidence and individuality, with a particular sensitivity to children who think differently or have busy, “wild” minds.

About the Founder

Nicola Jones is a Scottish multimedia artist, illustrator and storyteller with a background in digital media, creative education and community arts.

Her work focuses on building imaginative worlds rather than standalone products. Happy Tartan is her largest ongoing project, combining fashion, books, animation and creative tools into a single evolving universe designed to grow with its audience.

Inspired by island life, Scottish heritage and years of creative practice, Nicola’s work blends tradition with playful modern storytelling.
